CHAPTER No. 84

             Sub. :            Excise - Special scheme for small scale units manufacturing ball or roller bearings.

 Notification No. 24/2001 CE dt. 30.04.2001 communicated vide this Commissionerate Trade Notice No. 29/2001 dt. 02.05.2001, seeks to prescribe special scheme for small scale units manufacturing ball or roller bearings falling under Chapter 84, with effect from 01.05.2001.

  2.         The salient feature of this special scheme is as follows - units whose aggregate value of clearances for home consumption of ball or roller bearings in the preceding financial year did not exceed Rs. 25 lakhs are only eligible to the new scheme of excise duty exemption. In the case of units which did not have any clearances of ball or roller bearings in the preceding financial year, the eligibility is subject to the submission of

 a)                  A declaration that the aggregate value of clearances in the remaining part of the financial year shall not exceed Rs. 25              lakhs.

b)                 An undertaking to pay the normal duty on all the clearances in the remaining part of the financial year, in case the             aggregate value of clearances exceeds Rs. 25 lakhs.

  3.         Other features - goods bearing the brand name or trade name of another person are not eligible for the exemption. Goods cleared by a manufacturer from one or more factories or from a factory by one or more manufacturers shall be clubbed when computing the aggregate value of clearances for the purpose of the exemption. Clearances of ball or roller bearings made in the month of April 2001 shall be excluded when computing the aggregate value of clearances.

  4.         The contents of this Trade Notice may please be brought to the notice of all constituent members of your association in general and manufacturers in particular.
