               Subject : New Excise Procedure on textiles and textile articles - Extension of last date for filing  declarations upto 15.04.2003  - Reg.

  Kind reference is invited to this office Trade Notices No.5/2003 dt. 28-3-2003, 6/2003 dt. 3-4-2003 and 7/2003 dt. 3-4-2003 on the above subject.

In continuation of the above mentioned Trade Notices, the Trade is informed that the Manufacturers of Textile Goods are required to file declarations for the purposes of availing Cenvat Credit on the inputs / semi finished goods lying in stock as on 31.03.03.   The Central Government has extended the last date of filing declarations from April 7^th to April 15^th 2003 vide Notification No. 34/2003 CE (NT) dated 10-04-2003. (copy enclosed)

As a measure to facilitate the Trade, a special Cell was Constituted at the Commissionerate Headquarters Office, headed by Superintendent (Tech) to receive the applications for registration and filing of  stock declarations. This Special Cell will be kept open on the ensuing holidays from April 12^th to 15^th April 2003 at III Floor, MHU Complex, Nandanam, Chennai-600035.

Likewise, a Special Cell is constituted at the Divisional offices of all Divisions and kept open on all the four days  from April 12^th to 15^th April 2003.

constituent members of your Association and the manufacturers in particular

                   Please refer to the Trade Notice Nos. 5/2003 dated 28-3-2003, 6/2003 dt. 3-4-2003 and 7/2003 dated 3-4-2003 on the above subject.

                   Now, the Government of India, has extended the date of filing of declaration of Textile stocks held as on 31-3-2003 by Notification No. 34/2003 CE (NT) dated 10-04-2003, from 7-4-2003 to 15-4-2003.

                    It has been decided to constitute a Special Cell in Commissionerate Head Quarters and all Divisional Offices to receive the applications for Registration and to accept Declarations for the stock lying as on 31-03-2003.

                    These Special Cells should be kept open for Trade on the ensuing Holidays i.e., from 12-04-2003 to 15-04-2003. Therefore, the Divisional Deputy / Assistant Commissioners are directed to constitute the Cells in their respective Offices and report compliance.
